ESE provided utility design and permitting of a multi-phase project, which included the replacement of the existing water tanks, service laterals, fire hydrants, and approximately 11,000 linear feet of water main in the Forest Service cabin tract on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.  The 2015 construction phase included the replacement of the existing polyethylene storage tanks with a steel tank, installation of 800 linear feet of main, and replacement of the controls system. The remainder of the project was constructed in a single phase over the 2017 and 2018 building seasons. Already subject to TRPA standard building season limitations, the construction sequencing was further constrained by active nesting areas designated by the Forest Service within or adjacent to the tract.  ESE prepared a WaterCAD model of the system to determine the available domestic and fire flows and resulting pressures to demonstrate compliance with El Dorado County Health and Lake Valley Fire Protection District requirements. We also assisted the client with the approval of the tract’s 20-year special use permit with the US Forest Service, prepared a stormwater pollution prevention plan for the 2017/2018 construction, and conducted land coverage and capability verification and project construction permit processes with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
